Eminem’s latest single “Houdini” doesn’t hold back, as he directs his lyrics towards Megan Thee Stallion and R. Kelly. Sampling his own hit “Without Me” and blending it with the upbeat vibe of Steve Miller Band’s “Abracadabra,” Eminem uses clever wordplay to address Megan’s past incident and humorously reference R. Kelly’s controversies. Beyond the surface, Eminem dives into societal critiques, touching on topics like cancel culture and gender identity with his trademark wit and candid style.
In the video, Eminem revives his iconic Rap Boy persona, reminiscent of his “Without Me” days, engaging in a battle against his alter ego, Slim Shady, transported from 2002 to the present day. As the two clash in a comic book-style showdown, the situation escalates as they merge into a controversial and unrestrained hybrid “monster.”
Directed by his frequent collaborator Rich Lee, the video is star-studded, featuring appearances from Dr. Dre, who plays a significant role akin to his presence in the original “Without Me” video. Additionally, it includes cameos from notable figures such as 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Royce Da 5’9″, The Alchemist, Jimmy Iovine, manager Paul Rosenberg, and Shady Records artist Westside Boogie, adding to the visual spectacle and nostalgic nods to Eminem’s legacy.
