Hozier – Swan Upon Leda

Swan Upon Leda

Irish singer and songwriter, Hozier came through with this wonderful track titled “Swan Upon Leda,” the song is among the track off his upcoming album titled “Unreal Unearth”

Swan Upon Leda is a reference to the Greek myth of Leda and the Swan in which Zeus transforms into a swan and rapes Leda.

The song is about the protests in Iran which serve as a reminder that progressivism is a global movement. The recent pushbacks against civil liberties and human rights respect no boundaries or borders, and like all acts of control, violence, and indeed all forms of occupation, their legacies can be impossible to measure in both the personal and political spheres.

The record was produced by Jennifer Decilveo & Hozier, written by Hozier and released on October 7, 2022.

Quotable Lyrics:

A grandmother smugglin’ eggs
Past where the god child-soldier
Setanta stood dead

Our graceful turner of heads
Weaves through the checkpoints like a needle and thread
Someone’s frightened boy waves her on
She offers a mother’s smile and soon she’s gone
